I used the Silkscreen Stencil in Mandala from the Belles and Whistles line by Dixie Belle Paint Company to get a super chippy, boho finish on this secretary desk!
Here's where we are going....
The YouTube video on this finish is below, at the end recap :)
After, I simply took that blending with Yankee Blue and Dixie Belle Blue around the rest of the piece and pallet knife finish the chippy effect with Sea Glass, Peony, Lemonade and Pink Champagne around the rest of the body of the desk, scaling back a bit on the sides. On the drawers, I used this print from the Mandala Silkscreen Stencil. Each package comes with several designs!
I used the same pallet knife "drag" on these, as I did on the larger stencil.
For the hardware, I wanted something different....something other than a metallic look or just painted hardware. So I decided to use Voodoo Gel Stain in Denim to give a sparse, see through look... kinda like what was on the piece from using the vinegar water.
To do this, I cleaned well with White Lightning, rinsed and then applied a thin coat of Slick Stick and let dry for 24 hours.
Then, I painted a thin coat of Cotton and after dry, I went over the Cotton with the Denim Voodoo Gel Stain. I didn't want full coverage, so I didn't pay too much attention to how the coverage was. But you can definitely apply a second coat for full coverage if you wanted! Then just sealed with one coat of Gator Hide.
I used Sea Glass for the top and legs and sealed the entire piece with two coats of Gator Hide!
Boom! Boho Beauty!
