I'm going to show you step by step how I created this finish on a large dresser and nightstand! This was a custom request, inspired by a previous piece I painted. First, here's the final product and where we are going.
You'll need to start by cleaning well with white lightning and rinse with water. For this particular piece, I cleaned several times and was still getting gunk so I decided to apply BOSS in Gray.
Once my BOSS was completely dry, I began to paint. You can see the entire video HERE.
Not shown in the video, is the top and sealing! I finished the top with a straight coat of Gravel Road, sealed with Gator Hide. The body is sealed with Hemp Oil.
Using Hemp Oil to seal: Apply the Hemp Oil generously with an applicator pad. After a few hours, if the Hemp Oil has completely soaked in to the paint, apply more. You'll continue this process until the Hemp Oil is still sitting on the piece after several hours...that's how you know it has absorbed all it needs. Simply take an applicator pad to wipe off the excess. Let dry a couple of hours, then buff with a clean applicator pad!
